Grandmothers
Aren't grandmothers great? What would our daughters do without us?
I am a grandmother to 2 beautiful girls. Lyric is 4 and Aria is 2, but the sad thing to me is that they live in Toledo Ohio, and I live in Ontario Canada.
Although we do see them quite a bit, and that I'm thankful for. We usually go down about once a month for a long weekend. I go down on my March Break, by myself. A lot of people ask "you go by yourself?" I say "Yup" why not, Its not a long drive, just about 4 1/2 hours, depending on how many times you have to stop and grab a Tim Horten's along the way.
Grandkids are great, they love seeing you I think because they know you will bring them some goodies. And of course you do. I never go empty handed. I try and remember to always bring some Smarties, because the States does not sell them and Lyric loves them. I always bring some outfits for both girls. They love clothes and both love the colour PINK..everything has to be Pink. I swear they would eat, sleep and drink pink if they could.
Lyric always asks if we are bringing our dog Talon, she loves him so much and he loves her too. He will let her do anything to him, she lays on him, almost sits on him and he could care less. He is 9 years old now, but he just loves the kids. The kids love coming up to Grandma and Grandpa's house, they love going to the big park near our house. I love watching Lyric give Gina (their mother) a hard time, because I tell Gina "What goes around comes around" hehehe. I also tell her just wait till she is a teenager.....and Gina replies with "ya i can hardly wait" Oh the fun begins then. heheheh....Being a grandparent is great because when you have had enough you can GO HOME AND LEAVE THE KIDS BEHIND......
